Things have been busy. Halfway through the month, we headed over to my grandparents' house to meet up with most of my mother's family, and since we hadn't been able to visit for Christmas, I couldn't pass up. And when we go on vacation, it's always a coin toss as to whether I get a ton or little to no writing done at all - this time around, it was the latter.

As stated in the previous wrap-up, I finished drafting the first part of the story for the IchiBowl sometime around the first week of the month. As is obvious, the next thing I did was come up with some completely unrelated ShinIchi plunny, because my muse just loves running with the wrong stories (sorry, sorry, I'm very appreciative of my muse, please don't tell her I wrote that). Then, while trying to figure out what I thought was the second part of the project I was actually trying to work on, I realized the story work better divided into four parts - and with how each part is separated from the previous by a timeskip, and with all the changes in weather, I decided to theme each one after one of the four seasons, and spent some time figuring out which one was which.

Hence, the story is now made up of four sections: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn.

To be fair, it felt a little odd ending on Autumn. Like it left something unfinished. Winter would have given it a sad ending, Spring a hopeful one, and Summer a happy one - but Autumn? It's the promise of more troubles, especially with how negatively the cold was depicted in the first scene. That was my first thought, anyway - but I think I should be able to spin things in a way that makes this choice work thematically, so I've decided to stick with it.

As I write this, I've written part of the 'Spring' section - although it is the part of the story that is the most emotionally unclear in my head, so I've been struggling a bit. But things are nevertheless progressing.

As for Lydia's story, I accidentally replotted a whole section of Act II. I'd been trying to clarify how her relationship with her Zanpakutou evolved over the course of the volume - turns out, perhaps that should have been my guiding light for structuring the murky middle of this story. It's complicated things though - all this has had me question where the midpoint for this story was, or if I have two. I feel like there are even more things I am unsure of now, even though what I've come up with this time around rings more true.

Well. All this means is that I've still got a lot of plotting ahead of me, after all.

Overall, this month, I haven't done as much as I wish I had - but I did make some progress on the writing of the story for the IchiBowl, as well as brainstormed YODT a bit. There will be better months, but I'm still rather content with how things have turned out.
